Salary: $72,500 – $87,360 per year

What you will do

• Prepare plumbing and fire protection system designs, including layouts, calculations, and specifications
• Perform engineering computations such as pipe sizing, flow and pressure calculations, fixture unit analysis, and preliminary hydraulic calculations
• Develop system concepts, refine designs through construction documents, and coordinate with architectural and structural drawings
• Research and apply codes like NY State Codes, NFPA, IPC, IMC; participate in design meetings and communicate technical requirements
• Review shop drawings, submittals, respond to RFIs, conduct site visits, assist with testing, punch lists, and project closeout
• Prepare design narratives, calculation packages, reports, and ensure QA/QC compliance

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or related discipline
• Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) required; actively pursuing P.E. preferred
• 2–5 years of plumbing and/or fire protection system design experience in building projects
• Strong technical skills in system design, engineering judgment, and project delivery
• Familiarity with NFPA standards, building codes, and engineering best practices
• Experience with system modeling, hydraulic calculations, and BIM (Revit) preferred
