Failure Analysis Engineer (SSD/NAND)

Location: Hybrid role reporting out of Rancho Cordova, California, United States

Salary: USD 121,280–194,100 per year, plus potential RSU, RCU, and cash bonus participation.

What you will do

• Debug SSD failures identified during internal validation and customer field usage.
• Investigate failures across different SSD architectures and failure modes.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, platform, validation, operating system, and driver engineering teams to determine root causes.
• Debug SSD firmware, operating systems, drivers, and validation software for performance, reliability, and functional issues.
• Use internal tools, PCIe/NVMe protocol analyzers, and firmware debuggers to support failure analysis.
• Share failure-analysis methodology with junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Architectural knowledge of NAND-based SSDs and basic operational understanding of NAND memory devices.
• Experience with PCIe/NVMe, SATA, and SAS storage interfaces.
• Experience analyzing SSD telemetry logs and performing system-level debugging in Linux and Windows.
• Strong electronics experience, including PCB development, embedded-system architecture, and embedded power systems.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, and script development in Python and/or C.
