SSD Architect (Storage)

Location: Hybrid role reporting onsite in Longmont, Colorado, three days per week; alternate work locations include Rancho Cordova, San Jose, and Vancouver.

Salary: USD 196,240–314,000 yearly, plus eligibility for RSU, RCU, and cash bonus programs.

What you will do

• Define and own architecture for critical SSD domains such as PCIe/NVMe, memory controllers, and CPU complexes.
• Develop architecture specifications covering system flows, hardware/software partitioning, and performance optimization.
• Lead architectural trade-offs across performance, power, cost, scalability, and time to market.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle, from concept and implementation through validation and product bring-up.
• Partner with controller, firmware, hardware, ASIC, and validation engineering teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and mentoring across architecture and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in embedded systems architecture and design, with hands-on ASIC and/or firmware development experience.
• Expertise in one or more SSD architecture domains, such as PCIe/NVMe, memory controllers, or CPU complexes.
• Understanding of enterprise storage architecture, including performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Experience making hardware/software partitioning decisions and system-level architectural trade-offs.
• Ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience with performance modeling, characterization, and QoS optimization for data center storage.
