Arils Maintenance Lead 2nd Shift (Food Manufacturing)

Location: Buttonwillow, California, USA

Salary: $28–$31 per hour, dependent on skills and experience.

What you will do

• Lead daily maintenance operations for extraction, arils processing, packaging, utilities, and facility systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, install, start up, align, and maintain mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated production equipment.
• Diagnose PLC-controlled systems, HMIs, VFDs, motor controls, sensors, instrumentation, and 24VDC–480VAC electrical systems.
• Develop and improve preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs using CMMS for scheduling, documentation, and inventory tracking.
• Lead root cause analysis, reliability initiatives, harvest preparation, seasonal startups and shutdowns, capital projects, and contractor oversight.
• Train and mentor maintenance personnel while collaborating with Production, Quality, Engineering, Safety, and Operations teams.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems in a high-speed food manufacturing environment.
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, automation controls, HMIs, VFDs, instrumentation, conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, utilities, and facility equipment.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, OEM manuals, and technical documentation.
• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, reliability methods, and CMMS or similar systems.
• Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, BRC, OSHA, Lockout/Tagout, confined-space entry, food safety, and regulatory compliance.
• High school diploma or GED, technical training, leading experience, and at least two years of related packing or production-machine experience; availability for evenings and weekends.

Nice to have

• Welding and fabrication experience, including TIG, MIG, stainless steel fabrication, equipment modification, and installation.
• Certifications and experience operating forklifts, telehandlers, aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and other powered industrial equipment.
