Company

hirify.global enables genomic medicine and research through national-scale genomic datasets, healthcare software systems, and the NHS whole genome sequencing service.

What you will do

  • Deliver genome analysis and interpretation projects for rare and complex disease research with external researchers and industry partners.
  • Prepare genomic data through quality control, functional annotation, aggregation, and harmonisation across datasets.
  • Perform custom analyses of whole genome sequencing and multi-omics data, including GWAS, aggregate variant testing, meta-analysis, differential abundance, fine-mapping, and Mendelian randomisation.
  • Develop, fine-tune, benchmark, and improve computational tools and pipelines for genomic analysis.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders with analytical planning, genomic dataset expertise, reports, documentation, and dissemination of findings.
  • Contribute to scientific papers, white papers, and conference presentations.

Requirements

  • Strong programming skills in R and Python, with a solid background in statistical genetics.
  • Demonstrable experience using whole genome sequencing data in human genetics and a strong background in human disease genetics.
  • Experience in human germline DNA analysis, such as genetic association testing, population genetics, pharmacogenomics, rare disease genomics, or structural variation analysis.
  • Experience working with cloud environments, building containers, and running pipelines with workflow languages, ideally Nextflow.
  • Ability to communicate with stakeholders across management, IT, R&D, biology, and bioinformatics, while handling sensitive patient cohort data.
  • PhD in statistical or computational genetics, biostatistics, population genetics, or an equivalent quantitative discipline.

Nice to have

  • Experience with long-read sequencing data or other omics modalities.
  • Background in complex genomic regions such as HLA, KIR, or pharmacogenomics regions.

Culture & Benefits

  • Blended working with flexibility to design working patterns with the team.
  • 30 days of annual leave plus bank holidays and additional long-service leave.
  • Option to apply for up to 30 days of remote working abroad annually, subject to approval.
  • Defined contribution pension with employer double-matching up to 10%, life assurance, and family-friendly leave.
  • Individual learning budgets, training and certification support, professional subscription reimbursement, wellbeing services, and subsidised gym membership.

Hiring process

  • Successful candidates are subject to a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  • Interview adjustments are available to support participation in the recruitment process.
