Bioinformatics Scientist/Engineer – DRAGEN Array (NGS)

Location: England - Cambridge; UK or Germany preferred

Salary: GBP 63,800–95,600 base salary per year, plus eligible bonus or commission and potential equity.

What you will do

• Design and develop algorithms and probabilistic models for array and NGS data supporting genotyping and genetics applications.
• Apply statistical, computational, and machine-learning methods to large-scale genetic and epigenetic datasets, including sequencing, copy number, and methylation data.
• Build production-grade software and scalable computational workflows for robust analytical processing.
• Develop testing automation covering unit, integration, and regression testing of bioinformatics pipelines.
• Define CI/CD workflows and improve telemetry, logging, monitoring, diagnostics, and operational robustness.
• Execute software lifecycle practices, including requirements traceability, design documentation, verification, and validation, while collaborating with laboratory, product, and engineering teams.

Requirements

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Bioengineering, or a related field.
• Senior-level expertise in algorithm development, statistical modelling, computational genomics, and genomic data analysis at scale.
• Programming expertise in Python and/or R.
• Experience developing production-quality scientific or commercial software.
• Knowledge of testing automation, CI/CD, and software lifecycle processes.
• This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring scientists or engineers.
• Experience with array and NGS technologies, machine-learning approaches, and scalable software development.
• Experience with JAMA for requirements and traceability and JIRA for planning and execution.
