Certified Peer Support Worker (Behavioral Health)

Location: Remote work from home, but candidates must live in Las Cruces, New Mexico, or the surrounding area; extensive travel within the community is required.

Salary: $41,505–$62,255 per year, with potential short-term incentives and benefits.

What you will do

• Provide non-clinical, evidence-based peer support to members with mental health and substance use conditions.
• Guide members in developing Wellness Recovery Action Plans, wellness goals, crisis-prevention strategies, and problem-solving skills.
• Support members during transitions from inpatient and other treatment settings, including post-crisis planning and navigation of multiple systems.
• Connect members and families with health services, community resources, and peer, parent, and family support networks.
• Advocate for member needs, identify service gaps, and coordinate strategies that improve health and quality-of-life outcomes.
• Document interactions, collaborate with the Magellan care coordination team, and respond appropriately to safety risks and crisis situations.

Requirements

• Self-identified current or former user of mental health or substance use services with personal recovery experience.
• Must hold or obtain the National Peer Support Credential within one year of hire.
• CPRS, CPS, CPSS, CRPS, PRSS, or state-required Peer Specialist certification.
• GED or high school education; an associate degree is preferred.
• Valid in-state driver's license and a reliable vehicle in good working condition for regular community travel.
• Knowledge of behavioral health and community systems, recovery principles, resiliency practices, WRAP, and peer support services.
