Operations Safety Specialist

Location: Onsite in Grayslake, Illinois, United States

Pay: $24.75–$38.43 per hour

What you will do

• Deliver safety content, orientations, training, and education across the operating location.
• Observe operations and inspect work areas to identify hazards, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Administer safety policies, audits, employee training, and behavior-based engagement programs.
• Coach Operations Managers and lead safety discussions during pre-sort, post-sort, and building staff meetings.
• Conduct incident investigations and present safety performance and remedial action plans to building management.
• Coordinate yard safety improvements across Transportation and Hub or Station teams and support regulatory agency inspections.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree in Safety, Health and Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
• At least six months of experience in instructor-led training, field operations, or a related area.
• Experience in a safety-focused leadership role is preferred.
• Knowledge of safety management, audits, employee training, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.
• Ability to facilitate presentations, analyze data, manage multiple projects, and develop fact-based solutions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based applications.

Nice to have

• ASSP, NSC, OSHA Training Institute, or accredited college certification.
• Knowledge of hirify.global operations, policies, and procedures.
