Upstream Oil & Gas Reservoir Engineer (Technical Due Diligence): Delivering independent engineering advisory services for U.S. Department of Energy financing of upstream oil and gas projects with an accent on reservoir characterization, reserves validation, decline analysis, and production forecasting. Focus on reviewing technical documentation, validating development and debt-service assumptions, assessing subsurface uncertainty, and producing lender-ready reports and reservoir models.

Location: Remote within the United States, with on-site meetings and visits to project sites nationwide; based in or supporting Washington, DC and the CONUS.

What you will do

  • Provide independent engineering advisory support for DOE Energy Dominance Financing technical due diligence, credit evaluation, lifecycle monitoring, and assurance activities.
  • Review reservoir characterization, reserves, decline analysis, development planning, and production sustainability.
  • Validate reserve estimates, production forecasts, type curves, reservoir models, and debt-service production assumptions.
  • Review project documentation and data rooms, identify technical and commercial risks, and develop mitigations.
  • Prepare defensible reservoir reports, field development evaluations, monitoring outputs, certifications, and decision-support materials.
  • Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal, construction, operations, environmental, HSE, and project controls stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geoscience, petroleum engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering, operations, energy infrastructure, advisory, risk, finance, or construction experience.
  • Experience with oil and gas, power, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects for owners, lenders, independent engineers, or federal clients.
  • Expertise in independent engineering review, technical due diligence, reservoir characterization, reserves, decline analysis, development planning, and production forecasting.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, report-writing, Excel-based analysis, stakeholder coordination, and presentation skills.
  • Work authorization and availability for remote work within the United States, with expected on-site meetings and project-site support.

Nice to have

  • PE, PMP, CSP, API, NACE/AMPP, PMI, or other discipline-specific credentials.
  • Experience supporting DOE or Loan Programs Office-style documentation, credit evaluation, construction monitoring, or lender reviews.
