Associate General Counsel - Medicaid

Location: Hybrid, based in Richardson, Texas; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Chicago, Illinois; Tulsa, Oklahoma; or Helena, Montana. In-office work is required 3 days per week.

Base pay: $146,700–$272,400 per year, plus eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Provide legal support to Medicaid managed care and CHIP programs.
• Advise legal teams, business leaders, and internal partners on regulatory and operational matters.
• Interpret state Medicaid and CHIP policies, regulations, and guidance from state Medicaid agencies and CMS.
• Support strategies for established healthcare operations and business growth.
• Advise on managed care delivery systems, contracting, payment integrity, coverage, grievances, reimbursement, and demonstration projects.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree and a license to practice law in the state where the position is located.
• At least 8 years of experience as an attorney.
• Demonstrated understanding or experience in healthcare or insurance.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
• Negotiation and diplomacy skills.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• At least 5 years of experience with state Medicaid or CHIP program issues.
• Experience with Medicaid or CHIP managed care, contracting, payment integrity, coverage, member grievances, reimbursement, or section 1115 demonstration projects.
• Strong business collaboration and legal writing skills.
