Data Engineering Manager (Fintech)

What you will do

• Lead, hire, coach, and develop a team of data engineers while managing priorities, performance, workload, and hiring plans.
• Set technical direction for data modeling, including schema design, single sources of truth, documentation, consistency, traceability, and quality.
• Guide the development and maintenance of batch and streaming ETL pipelines from ingestion through transformation and delivery.
• Partner with engineering, product, business, and data platform stakeholders to translate ambiguous needs into reliable data solutions.
• Address distributed and multi-datacenter data challenges, including migration, duplication, consistency, and root-cause resolution.
• Own data governance practices covering quality, stewardship, metadata, master data, privacy, security, and data lifecycle management, while driving practical AI automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience designing and implementing ETL pipelines with Informatica, Talend, Apache NiFi, or similar platforms.
• 2+ years of direct management or leadership experience with data engineers, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Proficiency in SQL, database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle, and data warehousing.
• Familiarity with GCP, specifically BigQuery and Airflow, plus the ability to set technical direction and align engineering and business stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and attention-to-detail skills for working with globally distributed teams.

• Experience in financial services, payment systems, or fintech platforms.
• Knowledge of financial-industry data governance practices and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with Python or R for data analysis and automation.
• Data management or related technology certification.
• Experience scaling a data engineering team during significant company growth.
