Customs Regulatory Advisor (Vietnam Customs): Ensuring FedEx import and export operations comply with Vietnam customs regulations and international trade requirements with an accent on regulatory interpretation, customs declarations, HS classification, valuation, and duty and tax compliance. Focus on resolving complex clearance issues, managing regulatory risks, supporting audits and authorities, and optimizing VNACCS/VCIS-based customs processes.

What you will do

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on Vietnam customs regulations, import/export laws, and international trade compliance.
  • Interpret Circulars, Decrees, HS classification rules, and other regulatory updates and translate them into operational procedures.
  • Ensure accurate customs declarations, valuation, duty and tax calculations, import/export licensing, and specialized inspections.
  • Resolve complex customs issues with clearance operations and liaise with the General Department of Vietnam Customs, inspection agencies, and relevant ministries.
  • Monitor clearance and compliance KPIs, identify regulatory risks, support audits, and implement mitigation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop customs compliance training, standardize clearance processes, and support VNACCS/VCIS and e-customs digitalization initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain, Law, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Vietnam customs clearance, trade compliance, or regulatory advisory; the posting also lists a minimum of 7 years of related industry experience and an alternative requirement of 4 years in aviation, regulatory, or planning fields.
  • Licensed Customs Broker certification in Vietnam.
  • Strong knowledge of Vietnam Customs Law, related Decrees and Circulars, VNACCS/VCIS, HS classification, customs valuation, duty and tax calculation, and import/export licensing.
  • Experience working with the General Department of Vietnam Customs and relevant government authorities, with strong analytical, problem-solving, risk management, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Vietnamese and English communication skills required.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a multinational logistics or express transportation company.
  • Familiarity with free trade agreements, including EVFTA and RCEP, and rules of origin compliance.
  • Experience with cross-border logistics and express industry operations.
