Project Finance Advisor (Energy Infrastructure)

Location: Remote within the United States, with on-site meetings and project-site visits expected; work is centered in Washington, DC and may occur at project sites nationwide.

What you will do

• Provide independent engineering advisory support for DOE Energy Dominance Financing and Loan Programs Office activities.
• Perform technical due diligence, credit evaluation, lifecycle monitoring, and construction and operational risk assessments for large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
• Review project documentation, data rooms, technical and commercial interfaces, assumptions, conditions precedent evidence, and draw packages.
• Prepare financing memoranda, credit committee inputs, risk allocation summaries, sensitivity cases, independent engineer reports, and advisory recommendations.
• Translate engineering, construction, compliance, operational, commercial, and risk findings into lender-ready decision-support materials.
• Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal, construction, operations, environmental, HSE, and project controls stakeholders.

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive experience in energy infrastructure, engineering advisory, project finance, program management, or independent engineering.
• At least 5 years leading multidisciplinary teams, client delivery, and senior stakeholder engagement for federal, lender, or owner-side programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, accounting, business, infrastructure finance, or a related field.
• Experience with independent engineering review, technical due diligence, risk assessment, underwriting support, risk allocation, lender interface, and financing decisions.
• Strong analytical, documentation, report-writing, stakeholder coordination, and presentation skills, including Excel-based analysis.
• Ability to work remotely within the United States and attend on-site meetings or project-site visits nationwide.

Nice to have

• MBA, CFA, PMP, CPA, or project finance credentials.
• Experience across oil and gas, power, utilities, transmission, grid modernization, energy storage, LNG, or other major infrastructure projects.
• Experience with DOE/LPO-style documentation and federal financing programs.
