TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer (Oil & Gas Pipelines): Providing independent engineering advisory services for technical due diligence, engineering validation, credit evaluation, and lifecycle monitoring of downstream oil and gas, midstream, and pipeline projects with an accent on rotating and static equipment, pressure systems, mechanical reliability, and lender-ready documentation. Focus on reviewing project evidence, validating technical assumptions, identifying risks and mitigations, and preparing defensible reports for DOE financing and infrastructure decisions.

Location: Remote within the United States, with on-site meetings and project-site visits expected nationwide. Initial work site: Washington, DC.

What you will do

  • Provide independent engineering advisory support for DOE Energy Dominance Financing technical due diligence, credit evaluation, lifecycle monitoring, and assurance activities.
  • Assess rotating and static equipment, pressure systems, mechanical design, reliability, maintainability, constructability, and mechanical integrity.
  • Review project documentation, data rooms, inspection records, equipment datasheets, performance data, and failure analyses.
  • Identify technical and commercial risks, validate assumptions, define mitigations, and support conditions-precedent and disbursement-readiness reviews.
  • Prepare traceable, lender-ready independent engineering reports and decision-support materials for DOE, LPO, credit, construction, and program stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal, construction, operations, environmental, HSE, and project-controls stakeholders, including through interviews, site observations, monitoring meetings, and issue tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geoscience, petroleum engineering, mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, environmental, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering, construction, operations, compliance, risk, finance, or energy-infrastructure advisory experience.
  • Experience with oil and gas, power, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects for owners, lenders, independent engineers, or federal clients.
  • Experience with independent engineering review, technical due diligence, risk assessment, mechanical equipment, rotating and static assets, pressure systems, and mechanical reliability.
  • Proficiency in data-room review, information-request tracking, report writing, Excel-based analysis, stakeholder coordination, and presentation of findings.
  • Must be able to support work remotely within the United States and attend on-site meetings or project-site visits nationwide.

Nice to have

  • PE, PMP, CSP, API, NACE/AMPP, PMI, or other discipline-specific credentials.
  • Experience supporting DOE or federal energy-financing programs and lender-oriented technical documentation.
