Petroleum Engineer (Upstream Oil & Gas)

Location: Remote within the United States with on-site meetings and project-site work nationwide; initially associated with Washington, DC.

What you will do

• Provide independent engineering advisory support for DOE Energy Dominance Financing technical due diligence, credit evaluation, lifecycle monitoring, and assurance activities.
• Review reservoir performance, reserves, production forecasts, field development plans, recovery factors, and operational risks for upstream oil and gas projects.
• Review project documentation and data rooms, validate assumptions, identify risks and mitigations, and support conditions-precedent and disbursement-readiness reviews.
• Prepare defensible reserve estimates, decline curves, production models, field development analyses, and Independent Engineer reports.
• Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal, construction, operations, environmental, HSE, and project-controls stakeholders.
• Participate in borrower and contractor interviews, site observations, monitoring meetings, risk-register updates, draw-package checks, and issue-closure tracking.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, engineering, geoscience, mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, environmental, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering, construction, operations, compliance, risk, finance, or energy-infrastructure advisory experience.
• Experience with oil and gas, power, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects for owners, lenders, independent engineers, or federal clients.
• Experience in independent engineering review, technical due diligence, risk assessment, reservoir performance, reserves, production forecasting, field development, and data-room review.
• Strong report writing, Excel-based analysis, stakeholder coordination, documentation, technical judgment, and presentation skills.
• Work authorization and availability for projects within the United States are required; on-site meetings and project-site visits may be expected.

Nice to have

• PE, PMP, CSP, API, NACE/AMPP, PMI, or other discipline-specific credentials.
• Experience supporting DOE, LPO, lender, credit, construction-monitoring, or project-finance stakeholders.
