Founding Engineer – Full Stack (AI)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, California; candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco.

Salary: $150,000–$250,000 USD annually, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Own engineering problems end to end, from customer insight and product requirements through research and infrastructure.
• Maintain a close feedback loop with customers and the founding team while shipping features quickly and iteratively.
• Define engineering culture, development patterns, and best practices from the ground up.
• Explore and improve how engineering teams work alongside AI agents.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience on engineering teams; 2+ years preferred, including at least one stint longer than 18 months in a strong startup or scale-up.
• Full-stack proficiency, from customer-facing UI through infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with React, Python, Terraform, and AWS.
• Experience building agentic systems or working with LLMs in production.
• Strong product sense and design instincts, with the ability to turn customer needs into shippable features.
• Must be a US citizen or have US work authorization; the role is on-site in San Francisco and requires relocation if not currently based there.

• Scientific or academic research background.
• Direct customer-facing experience in a technical role.
