Principal Python Developer

Location: 100% remote within the United States

Salary: $120,000–$170,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, build, and continuously enhance complex enterprise-grade Python applications, data-intensive services, and automation platforms.
• Develop robust, secure, and high-performance systems for distributed and mission-critical production environments.
• Design relational database schemas and tune queries across systems such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Sybase.
• Work across requirements, design, development, testing, release, and ongoing operational support.
• Debug complex production issues, identify root causes, and improve application resiliency and reliability.
• Collaborate with product, data, infrastructure, technical, and business stakeholders to translate ambiguous problems into technical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of applied Python development experience in enterprise-grade environments; the posting lists 6+ years of experience.
• Experience maintaining large-scale production applications with significant uptime and reliability requirements.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases, query tuning, schema design, data structures, algorithms, and computational efficiency.
• Experience with system design, application development, automated testing, operational support, Agile methodologies, CI/CD, resiliency patterns, and secure coding.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen, Green Card holder, EAD holder, or H-1B transfer candidate. New H-1B visa petitions cannot be sponsored.

Nice to have

• Shell scripting and command-line tooling in UNIX/Linux environments.
• Knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts and their implementation in code.
• Experience with NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Exposure to AWS services and cloud-native storage, including S3, RDS, DynamoDB, and Glue.
