Smart Manufacturing Engineer (Industrial IoT)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

What you will do

• Design and build connected, data-driven industrial systems spanning factory-floor edge environments and enterprise cloud platforms.
• Architect end-to-end IIoT solutions covering edge data acquisition, secure connectivity, cloud ingestion, real-time analytics, and operational dashboards.
• Translate ambiguous requirements into well-engineered solutions in collaboration with product, design, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders.
• Improve engineering quality through code reviews, design reviews, documentation, and mentorship of junior engineers.
• Troubleshoot and ship production-ready systems that deliver meaningful operational value.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of IIoT or industrial software engineering experience, with 6+ years of overall experience indicated for the position.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or Go.
• Hands-on experience with OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, Sparkplug B, and at least one major cloud IoT platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with edge runtimes such as Greengrass or IoT Edge, OT/IT integration patterns, and streaming or real-time analytics platforms.
• Understanding of industrial cybersecurity standards, plus strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with digital-twin platforms or predictive-maintenance ML models.
• Exposure to InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, or other time-series databases.
• Familiarity with Unified Namespace patterns and ISA or IEC 62443 certifications.
