Senior Backend Engineer (Go)

Location: London office or remote within the UK, with occasional meetings in London. Office attendance is not mandated.

Salary: £95,000–£130,000 base salary per year, plus performance-based incentive awards.

What you will do

• Build and support backend services for a specific area of the banking platform.
• Collaborate in cross-functional squads with product managers, designers, mobile and web engineers, analysts, researchers, and writers.
• Develop resilient software and distributed systems for banking, payments, infrastructure, security, financial crime, data, and customer operations.
• Write application code in Go and work with asynchronous messaging, persistent data storage, service orchestration, and RPC infrastructure.
• Contribute to customer-focused, data-informed product decisions.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience working on the backend of a technology product.
• Experience with distributed systems and resilient software development.
• Experience with at least one strongly typed language such as Go, Java, C, or Scala.
• Comfort working collaboratively in ambiguous environments and maintaining a product mindset.
• Ability to work from within the UK; the role may also be based in the London office.

Nice to have

• Prior experience with Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, Envoy Proxy, AWS, GCP, or React.
