Senior Application Security Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote - USA

Salary: $169,000–$220,000 USD base salary annually, plus equity and performance-based bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Hunt for and remediate vulnerabilities across Counterpart Assistant using security tools and custom scripts to model real-world attacks.
• Harden platform systems, services, and endpoints while establishing effective security monitoring.
• Safeguard protected health information and identify and close data-leakage paths related to deidentification.
• Apply AI agents and vulnerability-discovery frameworks with defined guardrails to improve security testing.
• Review critical pull requests, deliver security training, and mentor engineers on secure coding practices.
• Partner with SRE, engineering leadership, and corporate security to strengthen defensive strategies and disaster recovery.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and 4+ years focused on application security, vulnerability research, and penetration testing.
• Demonstrated ability to identify vulnerabilities using custom tooling.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools, agents, and frameworks for continuous vulnerability discovery.
• Ability to write code across the stack and work with multiple programming languages.
• Experience balancing security requirements with the needs of engineers, clinicians, and operators.
• Experience mentoring engineers and working on software involved in patient care.
