Staff AI Security Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, USA. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future visa sponsorship and must be authorized to start on the first day.

Salary: $199,000–$249,000 base salary, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. The displayed range applies to roles in Colorado, California, and New York.

What you will do

• Develop AI security strategy by evaluating emerging models, trends, architectures, and innovations.
• Partner with engineering and application security teams to secure AI capabilities across the platform.
• Enable internal AI productivity initiatives through secure architectures, controls, and guidance.
• Design and implement AI guardrails to reduce data loss risks and prevent insecure or unapproved AI usage.
• Lead complex security initiatives across infrastructure, applications, and the corporate environment, including risk remediation and automation.
• Advise engineering, product, and R&D teams while mentoring junior and mid-level security engineers.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in security engineering, application security, infrastructure security, data security, or cloud security.
• Experience turning ambiguous security problems into structured project plans and delivering them to completion.
• Deep knowledge of AI, including LLMs, MCP, agentic agents, frameworks, governance, regulations, attacks, guardrails, and cost considerations.
• Strong experience with AWS, particularly AWS security services.
• Strong understanding of authentication and authorization protocols, including securing non-human identities.
• Excellent analytical, communication, relationship-building, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• AI security certifications such as AAISM, AAIA, or CAISP.
• Knowledge of the NIST AI Framework or EU Artificial Intelligence Act.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATLAS or OWASP Top 10 for LLMs.
• Software engineering background and a bachelor's or master's degree in information systems, computer science, or security.
