TL;DR
Lead Software Architect (Cloud): Defining enterprise architecture strategy and designing scalable, resilient distributed systems with an accent on cloud-native technologies, microservices, API strategy, and performance engineering. Focus on driving platform modernization, establishing architecture governance, improving reliability and observability, and leading complex technical initiatives across multiple engineering organizations.
Location: 100% remote within the United States
Salary: $175,000–$200,000 annually

What you will do
- Define enterprise software architecture strategy across products, platforms, and engineering organizations.
- Design scalable, fault-tolerant, cloud-native distributed systems for enterprise workloads.
- Establish architecture principles, technical standards, governance practices, and decision records.
- Lead architecture reviews, technical design sessions, platform modernization, cloud migration, and API strategy.
- Drive performance optimization, scalability planning, reliability engineering, observability, automation, and operational excellence.
- Partner with executive leadership, engineering, product, and business stakeholders while mentoring Staff and Senior Engineers.
Requirements
- U.S. work eligibility is required; applicants must be U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, or eligible for an H-1B transfer.
- New H-1B visa petitions cannot be sponsored for this position.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including enterprise-scale platform design and delivery.
- Proven experience architecting and deploying large-scale distributed systems in production.
- Advanced programming proficiency in Java, Go, C++, C#, or similar backend technologies.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, microservices, distributed computing, APIs, messaging, cloud platforms, SRE, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps.
Nice to have
- Public technical contributions through presentations, publications, patents, technical blogs, or open-source leadership.
- Experience with multi-year enterprise modernization or digital transformation programs.
- Knowledge of FinOps, cloud governance, and cloud cost optimization.
- Experience with regulated industries, Kubernetes, service mesh technologies, enterprise integration patterns, or AI-enabled software platforms.
- Advanced degree or recognized software architecture and cloud certifications.
