Windchill Technical Developer (PTC Windchill)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

Salary: $130,000–$180,000 annually, based on experience

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain Java customizations, services, listeners, processors, validators, and business logic extensions for PTC Windchill.
• Extend Windchill data models with custom object types, attributes, relationships, and metadata using Type and Attribute Management.
• Build JSP, HTML, and JavaScript user interface components, including actions, tables, wizards, dashboards, and other UI extensions.
• Implement asynchronous processing, queues, scheduled tasks, event-driven components, workflow expressions, lifecycle automation, and approval processes.
• Optimize performance through profiling, query optimization, caching, JVM tuning, and efficient API usage while supporting upgrades and modernization.
• Lead architecture and code reviews, production troubleshooting, documentation, stakeholder collaboration, and developer mentorship.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional Java development experience, including extensive PTC Windchill customization and platform development.
• Expert knowledge of the Windchill Java API, PTC customization frameworks, Windchill architecture, data model, lifecycle management, workflow engine, access control, and object model.
• Strong Java expertise, including object-oriented design, multithreading, performance tuning, and enterprise software development.
• Hands-on experience with JSP, HTML, JavaScript, Type and Attribute Management, Object Initialization Rules, lifecycle templates, and workflow customization.
• Strong SQL skills with Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server, plus experience with Windchill upgrades, migrations, performance optimization, and enterprise production environments.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.

Nice to have

• PTC Windchill certification or equivalent certification.
• Experience with PTC ThingWorx, Windchill RV&S, Creo, Arbortext, or other PTC product integrations.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, REST APIs, messaging technologies, or PLM-to-ERP integrations.
• Experience in aerospace, automotive, medical devices, industrial manufacturing, or defense.
