Computational Biologist (AI)

Location: South San Francisco, California, United States; in-person hybrid schedule with three days per week onsite.

Salary: $183,000–$194,000 annual base salary for successful US-based applicants, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus and equity incentive plan.

What you will do

• Integrate microscopy, spatial proteomics, bulk and single-cell RNA-seq, and human cohort data to uncover disease mechanisms and generate therapeutic hypotheses.
• Analyze perturbation-screen data from disease-relevant in vitro models to identify and prioritize therapeutic targets.
• Discover and validate biomarkers for monitoring disease status and progression.
• Partner with experimental biologists to design, troubleshoot, and optimize experiments that test mechanistic and therapeutic hypotheses.
• Calibrate analytical tools and workflows, define performance metrics, and benchmark fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Communicate findings through reports, visualizations, presentations, and publications.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in computational biology, systems biology, bioengineering, computer science, machine learning, or a related discipline, plus 3+ years of post-graduation work experience.
• Hands-on experience with diverse data modalities, including single-cell RNA-seq, fluorescence microscopy, spatial proteomics or transcriptomics, or label-free microscopy.
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling and data analysis, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and develop mechanistic hypotheses.
• Knowledge of molecular or disease biology, such as neurological, cardiovascular, or metabolic disorders.
• Strong programming skills, including Python and scientific packages such as NumPy and pandas.
• Meaningful contributions to high-quality publications in computational biology, systems biology, life sciences, or biomedical venues; familiarity with version control, code review, documentation, and coding best practices.
