Business Controller (R&D)

Location: Hybrid in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, with at least two days per week in the office. Limited international travel may occasionally be required.

What you will do

• Deliver financial analyses and insights to support decision-making within the R&D Development Unit.
• Monitor R&D performance through KPIs and analyse variances between actual, budgeted, and forecasted results.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting across multiple R&D locations.
• Analyse CAPEX, project costs, and people-related costs, collaborating with local finance teams to resolve issues.
• Evaluate business cases for new product development initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of relevant experience as a controller, business controller, finance business partner, or in an equivalent role.
• Master’s degree in Finance, Business Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical skills and an understanding of business operations.
• Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and working with large datasets.
• Structured, detail-oriented, and proactive approach.
• Excellent English communication skills required for collaboration with international stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Power BI for data interpretation and performance analysis.
• Interest in AI and Large Language Models.
