Facilities Fire Systems Technician - Level 3 (Fire Protection)

Location: Onsite in De Soto, Kansas, United States. All candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction.

What you will do

• Inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire alarm, detection, suppression, fire extinguisher, and life-safety systems.
• Troubleshoot alarms, faults, impairments, and unwanted system activations according to established procedures.
• Support contractors during inspections, testing, and repairs; review work and report deficiencies.
• Perform preventive maintenance, maintain inventory, and keep accurate inspection records and issue logs.
• Train and mentor technicians at the same or lower level and participate in technical development programs.
• Collaborate with Facilities, EHS, contractors, and external agencies to maintain compliance and resolve issues.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or two years of relevant experience; a current state-issued driver's license is required.
• At least two years of experience as a Fire Systems Technician or in a relevant field.
• Experience with low-voltage systems, fire protection equipment, and water-based fire protection systems.
• Basic knowledge of electrical safety practices and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Ability to lift, climb ladders, work at heights, and work in confined spaces.
• Working-level English proficiency is required, including reading, writing, and speaking.

Nice to have

• Four or more years of relevant experience, an associate degree, or completion of a formal trade apprenticeship.
• OSHA 30 certification and knowledge of NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B.
• Experience with BMS, security, HVAC interfaces, blueprints, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
• Experience with industrial or large-campus facilities and interaction with Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
