Senior Software Engineer - Cloud Streaming Game Services (Rust)

Location: Aliso Viejo, California, United States; hybrid working policy

Base salary: $177,300–$265,900 USD per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain server-side software for the geographically distributed PlayStation Cloud Streaming infrastructure.
• Build Kubernetes controllers, operators, and system services for infrastructure lifecycle management and orchestration.
• Own features from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Develop maintainable software with comprehensive unit and integration tests.
• Partner with SRE, Test, and Platform Engineering to deliver reliable production services.
• Investigate production issues and contribute to architecture, technical documentation, engineering standards, and automation.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, and operating production software systems.
• Strong production software development experience in Rust.
• Experience building applications or controllers on Kubernetes and developing software on Linux.
• Experience debugging complex distributed applications and writing automated unit and integration tests.
• Understanding of concurrency, asynchronous programming, event-driven architectures, fault tolerance, and consistency models.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Java or C++.
• Experience with Ansible, AWX, or GitOps infrastructure automation.
• Knowledge of observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, OTel, or OpenSearch.
• Experience across software, infrastructure, networking, and hardware domains.
• Agile experience or contributions to open source.
