Rust Developer (Distributed Systems)

Location: 100% Remote in the United States

Salary: $145,000–$205,000 annually

What you will do

• Design and develop high-performance Rust backend services for large-scale distributed systems.
• Build low-latency APIs, asynchronous processing services, event-driven microservices, networking applications, and infrastructure tools.
• Develop concurrent applications using Tokio and async/await, optimizing CPU utilization, memory management, scheduling, and overall performance.
• Integrate services with messaging platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Redis Streams.
• Build secure APIs and authentication services using OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect, and mTLS.
• Participate in architecture and code reviews, CI/CD automation, production support, and troubleshooting of complex distributed systems issues.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with enterprise applications.
• 3+ years of production Rust development experience, including ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, traits, generics, and macros.
• Strong experience with asynchronous and concurrent programming, multithreading, synchronization, and lock-free programming concepts.
• Experience building RESTful APIs, gRPC services, and high-performance backend applications on Linux.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and distributed messaging systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with financial, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, or telecommunications platforms.
• Experience with Kubernetes Operators, service meshes, Terraform or Pulumi, and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
• Knowledge of cryptographic libraries, TLS, certificate management, Rust systems utilities, C/C++ FFI, or open-source Rust projects.
