TL;DR
Senior Accountant (Compensation Accounting/Finance): Managing accounting, reporting, reconciliations, and analysis for payroll, health and welfare, pension, and other compensation benefit accounts with an accent on forecasting, variance analysis, compliance, and business partnering. Focus on supporting benefit plan audits, improving accounting processes, and ensuring accurate results under GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and internal control requirements.

What you will do
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, analysis, and trend reviews for payroll, health and welfare, pension, and other compensation and benefits accounts.
- Support actuals, forecasts, and business plans while resolving accounting issues and adjustments with HR and business stakeholders.
- Partner with corporate department leaders on cost-center forecasts, plans, monthly actuals, spending analysis, and presentation materials.
- Assist with 401(k) and pension plan audits, including audit requests, Form 5500 reviews, and financial statement reviews.
- Support accounting and treasury operations, system implementations, process improvements, and ad hoc analysis projects.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, SOX requirements, internal controls, and company policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3–5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting analysis, research, communication, organization, and independent problem-solving.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows applications, including Excel formulas, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and handle sensitive employee and compensation data with discretion and integrity.
Nice to have
- CPA certification.
- Experience in a shared services or corporate accounting environment.
- Experience with Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor XA, OneStream, or BlackLine.
