Controller (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, United States. Eligibility under U.S. ITAR export regulations is required: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the necessary U.S. authorizations.

What you will do

• Lead the transition of monthly close, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, revenue recognition, and cost accounting functions in-house.
• Build financial infrastructure, reporting frameworks, accounting strategies, and internal controls.
• Partner with leadership on business planning, capital strategy, forecasting, and operational decisions.
• Provide financial reporting and insights to executives, board members, and investors.
• Manage invoice processing, collections, reconciliations, billing disputes, expense reimbursements, and cash-flow planning.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop the finance team while supporting audits, tax filings, and investor reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including controller or senior accounting experience.
• Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite or similar systems.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, ASC 606, and internal controls.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage transactional accounting and strategic projects.
• Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements for work on regulated space technology.

Nice to have

• CPA or CMA certification.
• Experience in a startup or manufacturing environment.
• Background in aerospace, satellite, telecommunications, or defense.
• Proficiency in SQL or other data tools for supplier and quality analytics.
