Staff Software Engineer (Growth Engineering)

Location: Remote - US; not eligible for work from Hawaii. US-based team members outside the Pacific time zone must work at least six hours between 8 am and 5 pm Pacific time each workday.

Salary: $137,000–$172,000 for Zone 4, $145,000–$183,000 for Zone 3, and $161,000–$203,000 for Zones 1–2 annually, plus equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Build and maintain GraphQL and REST APIs powered by Python services using Django, Flask, FastAPI, and aiohttp.
• Develop web and mobile experiences with React and React Native.
• Design reliable, reusable systems for eligibility processing, identity and access, client configuration, reporting, and secure member access.
• Write technical specifications and RFCs, lead large cross-domain projects, and coordinate roadmap commitments, timelines, and dependencies.
• Maintain technical documentation, unit tests, integration tests, and HIPAA/GDPR-compliant security practices.
• Mentor engineers, contribute to strategic engineering initiatives, and participate in on-call investigation, remediation, and reliability improvements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant software development experience.
• At least 2+ years of production full-stack web development experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and React Native.
• Experience building GraphQL and/or REST APIs and scaling relational databases such as PostgreSQL with performant queries.
• Proven ability to independently decompose ambiguous problems, write technical plans, architect large-scale projects, and drive delivery across teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication, cross-functional collaboration, mentoring, and experience working with distributed development teams.
• Must be able to maintain US work authorization throughout employment without employer sponsorship or employer-provided training plans or attestations.

Nice to have

• Experience with SSO SAML, OIDC, or JWT authorization protocols.
• Experience building AI/LLM-powered product features or using AI in the development lifecycle.
• Experience with SQL, bash, AWS or other cloud platforms, high-growth startups, health tech, or HR.
