Embedded Linux Software Engineer

Location: Irvine, California, United States; hybrid work. May require up to 5% travel to domestic and international locations. Valid authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Salary: $100,000–$167,000 per year, plus potential discretionary bonuses and incentives.

What you will do

• Design and develop software running on Linux and Android OS for aviation products.
• Own features from concept through deployment and participate in the complete Agile software development lifecycle.
• Perform code reviews and contribute to engineering standards, implementation guidelines, and documentation.
• Diagnose issues, resolve defects, and improve software quality and team efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate software implementation.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns and provide technical guidance.

Requirements

• Strong C/C++ programming skills and experience developing software for Linux and embedded systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, scalable architectures, socket programming, publish-subscribe systems, and event-driven architecture.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and Agile/Scrum practices.
• Knowledge of Android application development with Java/Kotlin, Android Studio, and Gradle.
• Familiarity with hardware components, block diagrams, schematics, TCP/UDP/IP, VLANs, switching, and routing concepts.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or electrical engineering, or equivalent practical experience; approximately five years of software engineering experience preferred.
