What you will do

• Own daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and consolidation across the Canadian parent and U.S. subsidiaries.
• Lead timely and accurate monthly and annual financial close processes.
• Analyze P&L performance and margins across service lines, including delivery costs and contractor/vendor payout economics.
• Build and strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, close procedures, and accounting systems.
• Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, and cash management across all entities.
• Manage U.S. and Canadian tax obligations, registrations, nexus requirements, sales tax filings, cash flow forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis.

Requirements

• CPA designation from CPA Canada, CPA US, or an equivalent body.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller or senior accounting experience.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS, including services and warranty-style revenue recognition.
• Experience with deferred revenue, liability accruals, multi-entity and multi-currency accounting, and U.S.-Canada consolidation.
• Strong understanding of accounting controls, financial reporting, and close processes.
• Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills; experience operating independently and building processes from the ground up.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern accounting platforms such as Rillet or Campfire, or with migrating from QuickBooks.
• Experience in trades, field services, or home services.
• Looker or Omni experience.
