What you will do

• Develop mechanical solutions for next-generation optical systems and networking switch concepts.
• Perform thermal simulations to evaluate thermal resistance, power dissipation, and mechanical stress across temperature ranges using Flotherm and Ansys.
• Design opto-mechanical structures, conduct tolerance analysis, and prepare technical drawings.
• Support new product development from concept execution through vendor selection, part evaluation, and product builds.
• Prepare simulation and failure-analysis reports, troubleshoot component interoperability, and conduct design of experiments.
• Perform DFMEA, hands-on laboratory experiments, and dimensional metrology while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in opto-mechanical design.
• Proficiency with mechanical CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks, and with Flotherm or Ansys.
• Experience designing sheet metal, castings, and injection-molded parts, including material and vendor selection and first-article assessment.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for frequent customer interaction.
• Ability to prioritize assignments, work independently, and collaborate in cross-functional and geographically distributed environments.
