Principal Scientist—Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics and Metabolism

Location: Groton, Connecticut, United States; onsite in the laboratory 5 days per week

Annual base salary: $106,000–$176,600, plus a 15% bonus target and eligibility for a share-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do

• Advance small-molecule programs from discovery through development as the ADME scientific owner for assigned project questions.
• Design, execute, and interpret fit-for-purpose enzymology studies covering clearance, disposition, in vitro-to-in vivo translation, and drug-drug interaction risk.
• Integrate in vitro ADME data to identify liabilities, define follow-up experiments, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Lead ADME risk assessments and communicate evidence-based recommendations to discovery and development teams.
• Design and execute rigorous laboratory experiments while improving capabilities through technology, partnerships, and novel approaches.
• Mentor scientists through experimental oversight, technical guidance, data review, and coaching.

Requirements

• PhD in a related science discipline and 4+ years of relevant industry experience, or MS with 9+ years, or BS with 12+ years in ADME sciences.
• Knowledge of enzymology and drug metabolism, including enzyme kinetics, reaction phenotyping, drug-drug interactions, and pharmacokinetic predictions.
• Experience independently leading complex ADME workstreams, integrating study design, data interpretation, and scientific recommendations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical reports, presentations, project recommendations, or external scientific communications.
• Experience coaching or mentoring scientists through technical guidance, experimental planning, and data review.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States is required; U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Expertise in biotransformation, transporters, or PBPK modeling.
• Experience connecting mechanistic ADME findings with chemistry, translational sciences, clinical pharmacology, toxicology, regulatory strategy, or nonclinical study packages.
• Experience with beyond-rule-of-five compounds or long-term culture systems.
• Experience improving assays, workflows, data quality, or technology implementation, including responsible use of AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
• Internal guidance, external publications, conference presentations, or contributions to ADME/DMPK best practices.
