Environmental Consultant - Texas

Location: Remote in Texas, USA; candidates in Texas, particularly within a one-hour drive of Houston, are preferred. Domestic travel of 5–50% may be required, including field work.

Salary: $79,400–$136,500 annually, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Manage environmental review, permitting, and compliance projects for natural gas pipelines, electric transmission lines, and associated facilities.
• Analyze environmental impacts and support project-specific applications and permit approvals.
• Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies on permitting and compliance requirements.
• Conduct biological field surveys, stormwater inspections, and related reporting where applicable.
• Produce and technically edit detailed documents while supporting administrative project functions.
• Collaborate with internal project managers, task managers, and external clients.

Requirements

• B.A. or B.S. in environmental science, environmental studies, environmental engineering, water resources, geology, biology, natural resources, or a closely related field.
• 3–5 years of environmental permitting experience; energy industry experience is preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience or familiarity with permitting processes involving the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NPDES, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, State Historic Preservation Offices, or other regulatory agencies.
• Strong initiative, organizational, problem-solving, and task management skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly, work under pressure, work independently with minimal supervision, and collaborate in large teams or one-on-one.
• Detail-oriented ability to analyze, organize, and interpret data from multiple sources and turn it into clear written deliverables.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; employment authorization is verified through E-Verify.
• Willingness to travel domestically as needed for 5–50% of the role, including field work.

Nice to have

• 1–2 years of experience or familiarity with project management or deputy project management.
• Experience in the energy industry, particularly with environmental permitting.
• Location in Texas or within driving distance of Houston.
