Senior Associate, Project Development (Renewable Energy)

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States; hybrid schedule with office collaboration on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Travel to projects within the West Region is required at more than 25%.

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 USD annually, plus eligibility for an annual cash bonus.

What you will do

• Manage and support utility-scale renewable energy projects from proposal and siting through permitting, design, interconnection, contracting, financing, and handover to construction.
• Develop approaches that reduce permitting risk, optimize schedules, and create additional project value.
• Lead or support due diligence for development-stage projects and portfolio acquisitions.
• Coordinate land campaigns, site control, engineering evaluations, interconnection studies, transmission activities, and project stakeholder relationships.
• Support negotiation and diligence of PPAs, GIAs, Turbine Supply Agreements, EPC contracts, and other critical project agreements.
• Manage project budgets and schedules, stage-gate reviews, financing diligence, RFP responses, offtake marketing, and presentations to management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, economics, finance, environmental science, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of applicable experience in the U.S. renewable energy industry, including direct experience with full-life-cycle development of utility-scale solar and/or wind projects.
• Ability to navigate complex permitting pathways for energy projects in the western United States.
• Experience across project siting, land and real estate, regulatory and environmental permitting, interconnection, transmission, power marketing, EPC engagement, and at least one successful project financing process.
• Experience with landowner engagement and negotiation or contracting, title resolution, subdivision, agricultural land use and water restrictions, ALTA surveys, GIS, and related real estate activities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, project schedules, budgets, and key commercial and financial value levers.
• Ability to travel to projects within the West Region at more than 25%.

Nice to have

• Advanced study in business, finance, law, environmental science, or public policy.
• Knowledge of governmental mandates, environmental regulations, or customer and market signals affecting renewable energy development in the West Region.
• Battery storage experience.
• Knowledge of CAISO and/or WECC power and transmission markets.
