TL;DR
Technical Designer II (Aerospace): Creating CAD layouts, detail and assembly drawings, MBDs, and released engineering datasets for the MK1 Lunar Lander with an accent on spacecraft structures, fluids assemblies, tube routing, and manufacturing requirements. Focus on managing large CAD assemblies and BOMs, applying GD&T and tolerance-stack analysis, and developing manufacturable designs for safe human spaceflight.

Location: Greater Seattle Area, United States

Base pay for Washington applicants: $34.39–$48.14 per hour; other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

  • Prepare design layouts, detail part and assembly drawings, MBDs, and engineering datasets using CAD and PLM tools.
  • Release engineering data and maintain design information for detail, assembly, and installation drawings or datasets.
  • Support mechanical layout and detail design for fluids parts and assemblies, including tube routing.
  • Review engineering drawings and designs for compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Apply engineering and manufacturing methodologies to balance cost, schedule, performance, and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design.
  • At least 2 years of experience in aerospace development or a similar industry.
  • Proficiency with Creo Parametric and Windchill for drawing generation and release processes.
  • Experience with standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis according to ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience managing large CAD assemblies, BOMs, ICMs, and skeletons, plus spacecraft structures and component mounting hardware.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees or asylees.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • Four or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Model Based Definition, material selection, metallic manufacturing techniques, composites, sheet metal, machining, and design for manufacturability.
