What you will do

• Develop and mature mechanical designs for space flight instruments, structures, moving mechanisms, opto-mechanical assemblies, and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment.
• Create high-fidelity part and assembly models using SolidWorks or Creo.
• Produce production-ready assembly and piece-part engineering drawings.
• Apply GD&T according to ASME Y14.5 and engineering drawing practices according to ASME Y14.1.
• Select aerospace-grade materials, surface treatments, and hardware for space flight compatibility, thermal requirements, and structural loads.
• Coordinate with analysis teams on Finite Element Models, incorporate recommendations, report status, and support project design reviews.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design or a related technical discipline; a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience designing space, aerospace, or defense hardware.
• Proficiency with PTC Creo or Dassault SolidWorks; experience with sheet metal, piping, cabling, and routed systems is preferred.
• Proficiency with GD&T, ASME Y14.1, PTC Windchill PLM, and configuration management systems.
• Strong teamwork, communication, organization, adaptability, and multitasking skills.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder due to government and ITAR/export control regulations.
