CNC Machinist & Programmer III (Aerospace)

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Applicants must be a U.S. Person eligible to obtain any required export authorizations under ITAR and EAR regulations.

What you will do

• Set up and operate 3-axis through 5-axis CNC mills, CNC lathes, and turning centers.
• Interpret engineering drawings, models, specifications, and complex GD&T requirements while planning machining sequences.
• Provide machinability feedback to design engineering on tolerancing, feature accessibility, fixturing, and material selection.
• Perform first-article machining and optimize feeds, speeds, tool paths, tooling, and fixturing for challenging materials and geometries.
• Measure parts using CMMs, micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and surface profilometers, making offset adjustments to maintain tolerances.
• Document process parameters and tool-life data, support capability studies, finish-machine additively manufactured parts, and maintain equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and 7+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience.
• At least 3 years of experience with multi-axis lathes, high-speed 5-axis mills, complex parts, and tight tolerances.
• At least 3 years of experience machining nickel-based alloys, stainless steels, and high-temperature superalloys.
• Extensive experience with CNC controls, including Fanuc or equivalent platforms such as Mazak, Okuma, Heidenhain, or Siemens.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills according to ASME Y14.5, plus CAD and CAM experience; HyperMILL is preferred.
• Must meet U.S. Person requirements under ITAR and EAR regulations and be eligible for required export authorizations.

Nice to have

• Aerospace structural components, 5-axis simultaneous machining, CNC tube bending, or additive-manufactured part finishing experience.
• Tooling and fixture design, CNC machine-tool selection, outside processing, or ISO 9001 experience.
• Experience operating cranes or forklifts.
