Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: London, England, United Kingdom; willingness to travel to customer sites up to approximately 50% is required.

Salary: £117,000–£168,000 annually plus bonus

What you will do

• Partner with Solutions Consultants and Account Executives on strategic customer opportunities.
• Own discovery, technical scoping, architecture, implementation, evaluation, productionization, adoption, and handoff for customer solutions.
• Build, deploy, and evaluate prototypes using customer data to measure workflow impact, reliability, adoption, and time-to-value.
• Productionize validated solutions with security, reliability, observability, maintainability, and enterprise integration requirements.
• Work with Product and R&D to convert validated customer patterns into roadmap investments, reusable components, accelerators, and platform improvements.
• Develop and continuously update solution specifications with customers and assess business potential, market needs, and competitive differentiation.

Requirements

• Customer-facing and commercial ability, including technical discovery and value conversations with technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience with LLM application development, RAG, prompt and context engineering, and agent orchestration, including single- versus multi-agent patterns and memory and state management.
• Familiarity with enterprise integrations in regulated utility markets, including ArcGIS or Smallworld, IBM Maximo/EAM, SAP or Oracle ERP/PPM, Power BI, REST and streaming APIs, authentication, and systems of record.
• Ability to generalize customer solutions into reusable accelerators.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed, up to approximately 50%.
• Software or data engineering experience, including maintainable production code, Angular, Python or a similar language, SQL, data modeling, ingestion and transformation pipelines, debugging, observability, performance, and scale.

Nice to have

• Experience in utilities, energy, transportation, or capital and asset investment planning.
• Previous customer-facing technical, solutions engineering, forward deployment, technical consulting, or startup experience.
• Experience deploying AI in enterprise or regulated environments.
