EA- Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, United States; willingness to travel on-site to customer organizations is required.

Salary: $130,000–$145,000 annually, depending on experience and location.

What you will do

• Embed with client organizations remotely or on-site to understand workflows and identify opportunities for agentic AI automation.
• Lead workflow discovery sessions, map processes, and define prioritized AI-enabled workflows with stakeholders.
• Design, build, test, deploy, and iterate agentic skills using NGP VAN, its Interface, MCP-based tooling, and the broader Claude/AI agent ecosystem.
• Contribute features to the NGP VAN Interface and expand the NGP VAN REST API to support new agentic use cases.
• Advise political and nonprofit stakeholders on AI adoption, communicate technical concepts clearly, and support change management.
• Document reusable skills and deployment patterns while turning field learnings into product feedback and engineering priorities.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering or product management experience with the ability to independently ship production-quality software.
• Experience building with LLM APIs, agentic frameworks, or MCP-based tooling, including skills, tools, or agents that automate real workflows.
• Backend or full-stack proficiency with Python, Node, or .NET, plus strong REST API design and integration skills.
• Client-facing experience leading discovery sessions, managing expectations, and translating ambiguous requirements into technical specifications.
• Ability to work autonomously in an embedded or forward-deployed model.
• Familiarity with Democratic campaigns, progressive nonprofits, or political technology, and willingness to travel for on-site client meetings.

Nice to have

• Experience with NGP VAN or EveryAction products and the progressive technology ecosystem.
• Previous experience as a forward-deployed engineer, solutions engineer, or technical implementation consultant.
• Product management experience or training.
• Experience building MCP servers, Claude skills, or similar LLM tool integrations.
• Campaign, party, or political nonprofit staff experience.
