Board Repair Technician

What you will do

• Test, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and refurbish laptop and notebook PC circuit boards.
• Replace faulty components using through-hole, surface-mount, high-temperature soldering, and BGA rework techniques.
• Use schematics, technical manuals, and electronic test equipment to identify and resolve failures.
• Process engineering change orders, enter required material data, and inspect completed work for quality.
• Research and order repair parts and report unusual failure conditions or recurring trends to supervisors.
• Perform PCB testing, cleaning, and other daily repair-support activities.

Requirements

• AA/AS degree in electronics or three years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• Extensive experience troubleshooting, soldering, and repairing multilayer circuit boards to component level, including surface-mount component replacement.
• Basic knowledge of oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, logic probes, and trackers.
• Current knowledge of ASIC, chip-scale, BGA, and other SMT technologies, with the ability to solder under a microscope and use specialized equipment.
• Ability to read schematics and technical manuals, troubleshoot logically, work independently and collaboratively, and handle small components in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid authorization to work in the United States is required. Ability to lift or move objects weighing 10–30 lbs and working knowledge of Windows are also required.
