Senior Engineering Manager (Agentic AI)

Location: Onsite in Yokneam Illit, Israel

What you will do

• Lead and develop a high-performing software engineering team within the Activate R&D organization.
• Design, develop, and deploy scalable containerized microservices and API services.
• Lead backend architecture, implementation, testing strategy, operations, and technical problem solving.
• Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of product features and components, including performance, uptime, scalability, and code quality.
• Make technical decisions, influence system architecture and development practices, and collaborate with a small cross-functional team.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve delivery and engineering productivity.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 12+ years of backend development experience, including at least 4 years of team management.
• 3+ years of Python experience and strong experience with React.
• Knowledge of server-side technologies including Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and Agentic AI.
• Experience with large-scale SQL and NoSQL databases, including SingleStore and PostgreSQL, and strong relational database knowledge.
• At least 1 year building agentic AI systems or autonomous agents, including agent frameworks, orchestration, tool use, evaluation, safety, and error handling.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud environments.
• Experience with Azure or GCP, Azure OpenAI Service, and Azure AI services.
• Java backend development and Spring experience.
• Agile Development, Extreme Programming, or sprint planning experience.
