Associate Director, Laboratory Informatics and Platform Automation (Biotechnology)

Location: Lexington, Massachusetts, United States. Candidates must currently have permanent US work authorization without the need for immediate or future sponsorship.

Salary: $195,500–$230,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Own the strategy, implementation, and operations of laboratory informatics systems, including LIMS, ELN, SDMS, and data analysis tools.
• Lead automation platforms for high-throughput screening, compound management, instrument integration, High-Res Cellario, and Biosero Green Button Go.
• Build data infrastructure with ontologies, ingestion pipelines, LIMS integrations, and workflows supporting downstream AI/ML use.
• Gather requirements, oversee user requirement specifications and UAT, and manage the full informatics software lifecycle.
• Ensure data integrity, compliance, security, IP protection, and harmonization of legacy and current experimental data.
• Lead the technical team, vendor relationships, platform operations, hardware acquisition, budgeting, hiring, mentoring, and career development.

Requirements

• PhD with 10+ years of laboratory informatics and/or automation experience in drug discovery, or BS/MS with 15+ years of experience.
• Life sciences experience in screening, biology, chemistry, DMPK, multi-omics, or NGS.
• Experience leading technical teams and delivering informatics and automation programs in pharma or biotech R&D.
• Deep knowledge of LIMS, ELN, SDMS, and automation systems, including HTS automation, mass spectrometry, and compound management integrations.
• Experience with tools such as Dotmatics and Snowflake, software infrastructure, vendor interoperability, roadmaps, and competing priorities.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence decisions across scientific and technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with SaaS platforms, cloud services, and API integrations.
• Hands-on experience with High-Res Cellario work cells and Biosero Green Button Go workflows.
