Technical Lead Engineer (Cloud Architecture)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead the design and execution of large, complex, cross-team engineering initiatives.
• Define architectural standards, reference patterns, technical RFCs, and architecture decision records used across engineering teams.
• Guide technical design reviews, architectural decisions, roadmap planning, and prioritization with product, design, operations, business stakeholders, engineering managers, and executives.
• Improve the reliability, scalability, performance, observability, and operational rigor of critical platforms.
• Lead production incident response and post-incident learning for major issues.
• Mentor senior engineers, contribute hands-on code to high-impact components, and support technical hiring and engineering culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• At least eight years of professional software engineering experience and a proven record of leading complex, cross-team initiatives.
• Deep expertise in at least one of distributed systems, cloud platforms, or large-scale data systems.
• Strong programming skills in at least one major backend language and excellent system-design and architecture skills.
• Demonstrated mentorship and technical leadership of senior engineers, plus strong written and verbal communication.

• Experience driving multi-year platform modernization initiatives.
• Public technical contributions such as talks, papers, or open-source software.
• Hands-on experience operating large-scale production systems.
• Experience building engineering organizations and platforms.
