IT Cloud Software Architect (AI/ML)

Location: Hybrid role for candidates living within 30 miles of Lincoln, Nebraska; Centennial, Colorado; Madison, Wisconsin; or Brownsville, Texas. The standard schedule is three days in the office and two days working from home. Existing remote associates may also be considered.

Starting salary: $140,000–$170,000 annually, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Lead the design of scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-optimized cloud-native applications.
• Define software architecture patterns for microservices, APIs, containers, serverless workloads, and business continuity.
• Advise internal stakeholders, partners, and clients on cloud adoption, modernization, and emerging technologies.
• Support pre-sales activities for approximately 10–25% of the role by leading discovery sessions, architecture workshops, proposals, RFP responses, and technical presentations.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineering teams while promoting DevOps, CI/CD, agile delivery, IaC, and DevSecOps practices.
• Evaluate emerging cloud and AI/ML technologies and lead proofs of concept for enterprise adoption.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 10 years of software engineering experience, including 5 or more years in cloud or solution architecture.
• Expertise in cloud-native application development on GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Strong proficiency in Node, Angular, C#, and Python.
• Experience designing and scaling microservices, APIs, serverless, and containerized workloads, including Kubernetes, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, ECS, or Lambda.
• Experience engaging business and client stakeholders and communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience.
• GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification; candidates without it are expected to earn it within 6–12 months, with training time and exam costs supported.
• Experience with pre-sales, proposals, RFPs, or client-facing solution design.
• Experience integrating AI/ML services such as Vertex AI, Gemini, SageMaker, Azure ML, or OpenAI.
