Senior Applications Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Hybrid in Tysons, Virginia, United States; US citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance are required.

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 annually

What you will do

• Architect and build performant, responsive, accessible interfaces with React, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Audit enterprise applications, conduct heuristic analysis and user research, and improve adoption, usability, and task completion.
• Develop interactive dashboards, data visualizations, and reusable component libraries that surface AI/ML outputs and operational metrics.
• Analyze complex requirements and lead the design and implementation of reusable software tools and subsystems.
• Mentor junior developers, contribute to code reviews and agile delivery, and collaborate with data engineers, ML teams, analysts, and stakeholders.
• Manage estimates, configuration management, release integrity, CI/CD pipelines, dependency governance, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• US citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
• BA/BS in a technical discipline and at least 10 years of applicable applications engineering or software development experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on UI/UX and front-end development experience, including expert React, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and WCAG 2.1 knowledge.
• Experience designing software tools from complex requirements, using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, CASE tools, and configuration management processes.
• Experience deploying machine learning models in production and engineering AI-driven anomaly detection for API traffic or system telemetry.
• Experience with data visualization and UX research methods, plus Git, JIRA, Jenkins, and Sonatype Nexus.

• Python, Golang, C++, C, SQL, or Java experience.
• AWS, Hadoop, Snowflake, Databricks, PySpark, Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, or Azure experience.
• XGBoost, SVM, Random Forest, kNN, NLP, SageMaker, Tableau, or Alteryx experience.
• Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Flask, Django, Node, REST API, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor experience.
• AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty, CompTIA Security+ ce, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
