Staff Robotics Controls Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Austin, Texas, USA; up to 10% travel to client and customer locations may be required.

Salary: $149,000–$204,000 annually, with the final offer based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test control algorithms for mobile robot case-handling tasks, including navigation and manipulation.
• Own delivery of robotic control software for autonomous warehouse systems operating hundreds of mobile robots.
• Develop and apply sensor-fusion estimation techniques and control algorithms for autonomous navigation and manipulation.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to plan, design, and develop new and existing features.
• Maintain software quality, reliability, and testability.
• Investigate production and system issues, identify risks, and implement solutions that improve performance and customer deliveries.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace, or a related discipline.
• At least 6 years of experience developing algorithms for mobile robot localization, manipulation, and navigation.
• Experience delivering robotics software products deployed in real-world environments.
• Knowledge of C++ embedded coding and design patterns for real-time environments.
• Knowledge of real-time or embedded operating systems, threading, and communication issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain and teach technical concepts.
