TL;DR
Fluid Test Technician (Aerospace): Building and testing high-pressure fluid and gas systems, test facilities, ground support equipment, propellant systems, and cryogenic systems for Haven-1 with an accent on hardware integration, functional checks, proof and leak testing, and field operations. Focus on troubleshooting fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems, conducting hazardous operations, interpreting P&IDs, and maintaining safe, productive test processes.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite. The role requires approximately 20% travel for vehicle test support, including extended travel of up to one month, and availability for overtime, varying hours, shifts, and weekends.

Salary: $22–$56 USD per hour, depending on technician level and qualifications.

What you will do

  • Build and test high-pressure fluid and gas systems for the Haven-1 vehicle and test articles.
  • Perform functional checks, high-pressure proof and leak tests, hazardous operations, and field test activities.
  • Build and maintain test facilities, ground support equipment, propellant systems, high-pressure systems, and cryogenic systems.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems, including fluid fill, drain, handling, and sensor monitoring.
  • Read and interpret Plumbing and Instrumentation Diagrams and execute aerospace integration work such as safety cabling, helicoil installation, and torqueing fasteners and fittings.
  • Operate heavy machinery and improve test processes, safety, and site productivity while working alongside engineers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • At least five years of experience in a production, mechanical, or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on hardware integration and high-pressure testing experience.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces, stoop, bend, and crawl, and lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.
  • Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing under U.S. export control requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and support critical mission milestones.

Nice to have

  • Tube fitting and bending experience with common industry fitting systems.
  • Experience with gaseous oxygen, liquid propellant, and cryogenic handling and systems maintenance.
